ABOUT

about

Founded in 2011, ALC Academy is an international social enterprise based in Montreal, Canada. Through its three pillars - ART, EDUCATION, and WELL-BEING - ALC is committed to promoting cultural diversity and strengthening self-esteem through the exploration of identity. Our goal is to inspire and motivate individuals to seek holistic harmony, contributing to the creation of a healthier and more inclusive world.

ALC Academy has its roots in the desire to honor the legacy of the late Mrs. Anne Lamercie-Cédat, the grandmother of artist Spaicy Bazile. Mrs. Cédat, originally from Haiti, immigrated to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in the late 1970s. Despite never receiving formal education, she shared profound wisdom with her granddaughter, who later became a teacher and then pursued a career in music as a singer-songwriter. Additionally, she pursued professional training as a holistic nutritionist while drawing upon the plant knowledge passed down by her grandmother, to better assist people on their journey to become the best version of themselves.

ALC Academy pays tribute to the memory of Mrs. Cédat while emphasizing the importance of education as the key to freedom.

SPAICY BAZILE

Director

Singer - Songwriter / Teacher / Holistic Nutritionist

"I use my Voice, my Music & my Vegan Food to empower you to become your best version."

Music and Nutrition bring people together, and these are the two passions/missions of SPAICY BAZILE: Uniting people, boosting their self-esteem by bridging the gap between cultures.

A former high school teacher, singer, and vegan holistic nutritionist, Spaicy Bazile, an Afro-Canadian of Haitian origin, made the decision to combine her three careers in service of the global community, with a special focus on youth worldwide, through her interactive workshops. These workshops aim to raise awareness about the importance of healthy eating to prevent the habit of addiction to excessive junk food consumption and to promote cultural diversity and positive self-esteem through identity.

In 2011, she won the GRAND PRIX LOJIQ (International Youth Offices of Quebec) for her cultural, educational, and humanitarian youth project in Haiti. She was then invited to the 7th UNESCO Youth Forum in Paris to sing and deliver a speech on the importance of education and self-esteem during the official opening ceremony.

Being vegan for 9 years, she surprised us with the release of her recipe book, "Vegan Creole Secrets," in which, much like her musical inspirations, she draws from the Afro-Haitian traditional heritage for flavors and introduces us to the joy of healthy eating.

TASTE FROM HERE

Educational workshops for bringing communities together through education and culinary experiences.

Virtual or in-person, our youth workshops, LIVING OFF THE ROOTS, promote cultural diversity in Canada and are based on a comprehensive 360-degree inclusive vision: The past, the present, and the future

The workshops are about celebrating the culinary heritage of Afro-descendants to engage, inform, educate, and boost self-esteem through identity and social inclusion.

It's an opportunity to invite others to discover an exciting facet, a heritage, and cultures rich in the history of Afro-Canadians, promoting better mutual understanding, openness, and peaceful interaction.

During the sessions, participants learn about the contributions of Afro-Canadians in both the past and today's Canadian society. They receive up-to-date information, often not found in their classroom history books. It's also a chance for them to express themselves in their mother tongue, collaborate in cooking as a team, and savor tropical vegan smoothies loaded with essential nutrients to boost their mood and positive energy.

THE WELL-BEING OF YOUNG

PEOPLE: EVERYONES'

RESPONSIBILITY

The workshop primarily aims to raise awareness among young people about two factors influencing well-being: self-esteem and the importance of a healthy diet. The approach is preventive and positive. It seeks to avoid addressing issues associated with youth and instead focuses on imparting tools that can be used throughout life. It is the duty of all of us to place young people at the center of our concerns. The question we have asked ourselves, which has led to the proposal of this workshop, is:

How can we put our knowledge, skills, and abilities in the service of the needs expressed by the young people themselves?

This workshop is highly interactive. The youth work in groups and are also encouraged to take some time for individual reflection on their emotions. The sessions conclude with the preparation of healthy vegan smoothies to uplift their mood and raise awareness about making good food choices to enhance self-esteem
