BIOGRAPHY
SPAICY was born in Montréal, in a multi-cultural neighborhood. Her upbringing exposed her to several worlds simultaneously. After graduating from the University of Manitoba, the Haitian-Canadian singer-songwriter left her teaching career to embark on a worldwide musical journey.
Her debut album titled "1st Intuition" and her EP album "3rd Season" earned her invitations to participate in various television shows and to perform on several internationally renowned stages: TV show Belle et Bum, Les Francofolies de Montréal in Québec, Canada, UNESCO Youth Forum in Paris, France, Couleur Café Festival in Brussels, Belgium.
In 2011, she traveled to Haiti for an exploratory musical and humanitarian project and that is where the essence of her mission was revealed. Her travels as well as her participation in the Cotonou Jazz Festival in Benin and her tour in Ghana, revived her root chakra! Africa confirmed to her what Haiti had revealed. She now had a better understanding of her story and the story she wanted to tell through her songs.
This has helped to shape her musical identity. A sound that we can discover on her new single "I GOTTA GO" as a prelude to her next album scheduled for end of 2023. Spaicy presents us Afro-Pop music sparkled with her Creole roots. It is a sweet blend of tradition and modernity.
On her new album, she surrounded herself with renowned producers such as Elijah for JahProd from Congo, Samy Beats from Haiti and the Ghanaian Kwame Yeboah, author and creator of inspiring music with several major artists, in particular: Cat Stevens, Craig David, and Pat Thomas.
Spaicy is not just music! She is the texture of her hair, the beating of her heart and the flavour of her cooking. Her artistic side is also found in her kitchen! Being vegan for a few years, she surprised us with the release of her recipe book, "Vegan Creole Secrets" through which, just like with her musical inspirations, she draws on the traditional Afro-Haitian heritage for flavours and makes us discover the pleasure of healthy food.
Spaicy is food, meditation, and an expression of music that is soothing for the soul!
