Nourrir les Racines is a youth arts and education project that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Afro-descendant communities while promoting creativity, inclusion, cultural awareness, and well-being through music, storytelling, cultural exchange,

and healthy sustainable living.

Youth Concerts
Nourrir les Racines

  • Audience : Youth 6 years +

  • Format : On site

  • Length : 30 to 45 minutes

  • Capacity : open to all

An interactive musical journey that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of African and Afro-descendant communities through music, rhythm, storytelling, and audience participation.

 

Participants explore inspiring stories, cultural traditions, and the contributions of Afro-descendant communities while developing cultural awareness, creativity, and self-confidence.

Creative Workshop
Nourrir les Racines

  • Audience : Youth 8 years +

  • Format : on site

  • Length : 60 minutes

  • Capacity : 30 participants

Interactive youth workshops presented during Black History Month that celebrate the contributions of Afro-Canadian communities while fostering inclusion and cultural awareness among students from diverse backgrounds.

Through music, rhythm, storytelling, collaborative activities, and an interactive Kahoot! quiz, participants are encouraged to explore cultural diversity, develop self-confidence, strengthen teamwork skills, and express their creativity in a fun and engaging environment.

Vegan Creole Secrets
Nourrir les Racines

  • Audience : youth 10 years +

  • Format : on site 

  • Length : 90 minutes

  • Capacity : 25 participants

Introductory culinary workshops that explore mindful, plant-based recipes inspired by Afro-Creole traditions. Participants discover the connection between food, culture, and well-being while learning about healthy and sustainable lifestyle habits.

Through hands-on activities and cultural storytelling, youth explore the history, heritage, and traditions behind Afro-Creole cuisine and gain a deeper appreciation for the role food plays in identity, community, and cultural

expression.
